Elder's Nguyen's Favorite Scripture

"And if thou shouldst be cast into the pit, or into the hands of murderers, and the sentence of death passed upon thee; if thou be cast into the deep; if the billowing surge conspire against thee; if fierce winds become thine enemy; if the heavens gather blackness, and all the elements combine to hedge up the way; and above all, if the very jaws of hell shall gape open the mouth wide after thee, know thou, my son, that all these things shall give thee experience, and shall be for thy good.

"The Son of Man hath descended below them all. Art thou greater than he?

"Therefore, hold on thy way, and the priesthood shall remain with thee; for their bounds are set, they cannot pass. Thy days are known, and thy years shall not be numbered less; therefore, fear not what man can do, for God shall be with you forever and ever."

Hi everyone,

We had a good experience a couple weeks ago that I forgot about.  On Saturday (two weeks ago) we had a lunch appointment with a member.  However, I got an impression to visit a less active member instead of going to the meeting.  We visited the member, but he didn't come to church the next day.  However, yesterday he came to church!  It was exciting to see that we were able to help someone come back to church.

The finding project hasn't yielded much.  We found out on Friday that it is illegal to use Facebook in Vietnam, so we've started searching an additional site for members who are probably in Vietnam.  However, it's still quite difficult to find anyone because a lot of people simply don't have information, and when they have it the Facebook profiles that match their names don't have information, or at least not information that matches.

On Friday, Elder Workman and I had to move to a new apartment.  Ours was too far from all of the other missionaries in the mission, so we got moved to another apartment that is closer to the mission home.  It is around the corner from the church, which is nice, but we also have to cross a large and rather steep bridge to get to our area now (our old apartment was in our area.)

Our zone also got a new missionary on Friday.  His name is Elder Barker.  He actually speaks Vietnamese quite well for a new missionary.  He is in my district, and the same apartment.  The Zone Leader, Elder Tien, is his trainer.

Besides that, not much is happening here.  We haven't found any new investigators, but that's not really news anymore.  We're still searching, still asking for referrals, and still not finding anyone.  We're going to continue to look, but there aren't many places left to look.  Still, we're doing good here, and I'm happy for it.

Have a great week everyone!

Elder Nguyen
